Every FromScratch project starts with a sentence. You describe what you want to build, in your own words, and an AI agent plans it with you, builds it in a live preview and helps you put it online. You don't need to know how to code — you need to know what you want.

Where to start

After you sign in you land on Home. The big question in the middle — What do you want to build? — is where your idea goes.

  1. Click the box that says Describe the app or site you want to create…
  2. Write a few sentences about your project (see below for what to include).
  3. Optionally choose a template under Or start from a template, and the Site theme (Light or Dark).
  4. Send it. A new project opens with the chat on the left and the preview on the right.

The first time a project starts, FromScratch prepares a private workspace for it. You'll see Preparing your workspace for about a minute; your message is sent automatically as soon as it's ready, so you can simply wait.

What to put in your first message

The agent works best when it knows four things. You don't need to write an essay — one line for each is plenty.

  • What it is and who it's for. "A booking site for my barbershop", "an internal tool for our sales team", "a shop selling handmade candles".
  • The pages or features that matter. Home page, services with prices, a booking form, a contact page, a dashboard with charts…
  • The look you have in mind. Colours, mood, a site you like, your brand name.
  • Real content you already have. Your business name, city, opening hours, prices, a tagline.
Example prompt
A booking site for my barbershop "Fade Factory" in Lyon. Pages: home with a big photo and our motto "Sharp cuts, no wait", services with prices (cut 25 €, beard 15 €, cut + beard 35 €), a booking form with date and time, and a contact page with the address and opening hours (Tue–Sat, 9am–7pm). Dark look, black and gold.

If you don't have everything yet, say so: "use placeholder prices, I'll give you the real ones later" works fine.

Start from a template — or from scratch

Under Or start from a template you'll find ready-made starting points: Landing Page, SaaS, Admin Dashboard, CMS, Storefront, Restaurant, Blog, Portfolio, Real Estate, Fitness, Agency, Chat App and more. They come with real content stored in their own small database and forms that actually save (a waitlist, a sign-up, a booking…). Picking one and then describing your changes is often the fastest way to a polished result.

The E-commerce site card is different: it creates a real online store with a cart, checkout and a store admin. It opens Choose your shop design so you can pick one of four designs. See Create an online store.

Tip

The Site theme toggle (Light / Dark) next to the templates decides the colour mode of your site from the start. It's easier to choose it now than to flip a finished site later — see Light and dark sites.

Choose a model (optional)

Next to the composer, Model: lets you choose the AI model that builds your project. Default is a good choice to start. Some models are marked Premium and are included in paid plans; others show a credit multiplier such as ×2 credits. You can change the model later from inside the project, and it takes effect on the next message. More in AI models and your plan.

What happens right after you send it

The agent doesn't start coding straight away. Its first reply is a conversation:

  1. It sums up what it understood in a sentence or two.
  2. It may ask up to three short questions — often as clickable buttons, so you can answer with one tap.
  3. It proposes a plan: three to six steps, each one something you'll be able to see in the preview.

Nothing is built until you approve that plan. That's on purpose: a ten-second answer to a question saves ten minutes of building the wrong thing. Read Approve the plan, step by step to see what comes next.

Note

Creating a project uses a few credits, and each reply from the agent uses credits too. The exact amounts depend on your plan — see How credits work.

Already have a project?

If you built something elsewhere, Import a project (.zip) on Home lets you upload it as a ZIP archive and continue with the agent. Your projects are listed in the left sidebar under My projects, where you can organise them into folders by dragging them.

FAQ

Do I need to write a perfect prompt?

No. A short, honest description is enough — the agent asks about what's missing. You can always refine with follow-up messages.

Can I write in French?

Yes. Write in the language you prefer. The agent replies in your interface language, and the site's content will be in whatever language you ask for.

Can I change my mind after the plan?

Yes. You can edit or remove steps before approving, and you can type changes at any time.
